Skyline Drive, Canon City, Co

Notice the pointed toe creature to the upper left and the fat toed creature in the center

The road looked much steeper from the car

When we took the funicular at Royal Gorge, a local was sharing a cart with us. She told us we should take Skyline Drive on the way back to Colorado Springs to see the Dinosaur Prints. Little did we know what was in store for us on this 3 mile drive. The road was one way and had a gate that could be closed in bad weather. The first part was very easy and we were able to find the dinosaur prints which were discovered in 1999. The odd thing about the prints is that they are not indentations as expected. You actually see the bottom of the prints. For more info on the Dinosaur story visit http://www.dinosaurdepot.com/tracks_p1.htm.

The rest of the drive was an adventure in itself. We were driving on a ridge that for most of the drive was only 2 or 3 feet wider than a single lane road. This means you have drop off on both sides. Because we were both so taken aback by the drive itself, I didn't think of taking pictures. Thankfully, I found some good photos on the web by folks much braver than us at http://geolor.com/Photography/Skyline_Drive_Colorado_Photo_Gallery-geolor.htm.
