The Stage at Red Rocks - I stood where Bono played :)

We spent the afternoon in Denver before heading to Matt and Becky's house for the weekend. My favorite place in Denver was the Platte River near REI. There is a trail that runs along the river for walking and biking. There is also a trolley tour that follows the river from REI past the aquarium and the children's museum then onto Mile High Stadium.

We spent some time outside REI watching dogs swim in the river. There was a black lab and a spring spaniel having a blast running into the water to chase sticks. Amazingly, the ducks just ignored the dogs.

In the same area in front of REI, the river has been diverted to create a white water rapid for kayaking. We watched a training course on how to go through white water after falling out of the boat. We saw one very unsuccessful student going down backwards instead of feet first. We also watched some folks in kayaks having a great time in the waves.

Later in the weekend we went to Coors Field with Matt and Becky to watch the Colorado Rockies play the Florida Marlins. We headed down early to check out a bar with some of the local beers before the game. The bar also served a basket of fries that were handcut by a human. At the game, we were very surprised that Coors Field has more places to buy Budweiser than it has to buy Coors. There something really wrong with the fact it is difficult to find Coors on draft at Coors field.

Our last stop in the Denver area was Red Rocks Amphitheater. The amphitheater is west of Denver near Golden Colorado. I imagine it must be pretty special to see a concert at the Red Rocks. The scenery is spectacular. Of course walking from the parking lot to your seat can be quite a workout.
