Seahorse rapped around a glass structure
A skate on a plate
Anyone who follows this blog, knows we like to visit aquariums. Although the Oregon Coast Aquarium is not as big or fancy as Georgia or Monterey, it is pretty special. The most unique thing about this aquarium is instead of displaying unique sea creatures on coral or kelp, Oregon mixed sea life with local art.
Local glass blowing artisans created coral structures, barnacles, caves, plates, and even deep sea diving helmets to decorate the various tanks. The sea life adapted to these glass structures just like they were coral. In addition to being wowed by the sea life, visitors to this aquarium are wowed by the glass art.
The native creatures like puffins, seals, and otters, are kept in areas outside near the bay. The aquarium and a great outdoor space to view the wildlife in the aquarium grounds and overlooks of the bay to view sea life in the wild. The aquarium also had beautiful landscaped gardens and paths to enjoy the native plants.
