Sometimes it really is about the journey and not the destination. The Burr Trail in Utah is all about the journey. The Burr Trail in Utah is the reason we wanted to have a 4 wheel drive vehicle for our tour across the United States.

We visited Utah the first time in 2000. On our trip from Zion NP to Arches NP, someone suggested we take the Burr Trail since our rental was a 4 wheel drive. We were told the road was good because "they just oiled it". Being city folks, we didn't know what that meant but it looked a lot closer than the way we had planned so we decided to take it. It was the most beautiful drive we have ever taken in our lives. The scenery changed so much in such a short time it was amazing. The only place we needed four wheel drive was the switchbacks.

Since that trip, we have always said if we go back to Utah, we have to do that drive. When the "OPPORTUNITY" came up to travel due to lack of jobs, we knew we needed to buy a 4 wheel drive vehicle so we could really experience Utah. Now you know the reason we own a Jeep was to drive the Burr Trail....and it was worth it!!!!
