Cambria, California

Enjoying the sunset on the Pacific Coast
California Sunset

After leaving Death Valley we had to decide whether to head north through the mountains of California or head to the coast. After checking the weather, we decided to head to the coast. We knew we wanted to visit Big Sur and Monterey before visiting friends in San Francisco. We found the best road to the coast from our Death Valley and ended up in a small town called Cambria.

Cambria was a fantastic little town. There are several hotels along Moonstone Beach. There is a wildlife area with boardwalks for that run from the south end of Moonstone Beach up through the next beach north of Moonstone. There is tons of wildlife to watch both in the sea and on the land. In addition to the otter and the seals, we found the dozens of ground squirrels that hang out beneath the boardwalk prety entertaining.
